EVERGREEN MONTESSORI

“Free the child’s potential and you transform him into the world.’”—Maria Montessori

Here in Evergreen Montessori, we believe that young education is essential and can help prepare your child for school and a foundation healthy lifestyle. We are here to support them on their journey of discovering and unlocking their passions and interests.

Practical life

Practical life means everyday activities. These are exercises that help the child learn how to do living activities in a purposeful way. Typical Practical Life activities include sweeping, dusting, and food preparation. Practical life activities help give the child a sense of being and belonging, established through participation in daily life with us.

Maths

Developing mathematical skills and spatial awareness is one of the most important things we can help children with. Children learn to recognize shapes, angles, size, position, and the spaces they live in. Children are surrounded by numbers. “‘How many brothers and sisters do you have” “Soon I will be 4 ”. By understanding patterns, sequencing, recognition of numerals, quantities, decimals etc. at this stage a child allows themselves to thrive in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and excel in later life.

Language

Language development is an essential part of early childhood. Children hear language from a wide variety of sources each and every day from parents, teachers, other children, and the world around them. Children use Montessori materials to explore letters, sounds, handwriting and eventually spelling and writing.

Culture

In the Montessori Cultural area, we teach our children Geography, History, Art, Music, and Science. Most importantly we teach children to have a love and respect for nature. The children learn how to differentiate between living and non-living things, how land, air, and water make up the earth, matching activities such as Botany and Zoology nomenclatures. Our children enjoy working with the Continent puzzles and the Botany and Zoology puzzles. There are many other activities in the Montessori Cultural area to enrich our children’s minds about our world.

Sensorial Life

Sensorial is used in a Montessori classroom to develop the five senses: sight, listening, touch, taste, and smell. Montessori Sensorial activities help children to think cognitively, helping them in their future learning and their personal and interpersonal development when a child combines Montessori materials with sensorial work, it helps them become more logical, perceptive and aware.
